Default Racing Beat Sway Bar clearance FC - LS1

I am trying to determine if I need to lower my aftermarket Racing Beat sway bar on my FC to allow clearance to the LS1. I have a Hinson's mounting kit on order, along with an engine, but want to start prepping the vehicle before hand. From what I have read, it appears that the power steering rack needs be lowered 1/2" to clear the oil pan... so I assume that my sway bar will need to be lowered to that level or lower. However, I'm not sure if the oil pan goes as far forward on the vehicle to rest over the sway bar, or if the accessory drive is in that location. Is anyone running a similar setup?

Attached are pictures while it still had the rotary engine.

Thanks
Mike

there are some pics on my homepage of my LS1FC setup. first of all, you dont need to lower the PS rack, but poly motor mount inserts stiffen up the motor to prevent it from rubbing on the rack. you can shim the Hinson mounts up off the subframe, or lower the tranny mount a little to angle the motor up at the front to clear the rack better, but I ran my PS for almost a year and they were almost touching but only showed minimal signs of contact, no wear or stress cracks on the oilpan either... its a very sturdy piece.

not sure on the swaybar, looks like it might be placed similarly to a stock swaybar in which case you will need to lower it and maybe move it forward a little just to clear the end of the oilpan and the crank pulley. I moved mine almost an inch down and forward with some aluminum block spacers I fabbed up, anyone can make them on a drillpress.

good luck on the swap!

You need to raise the motor as much as you can. I slotted the bracket for the sway bar linkage on the lower control arm so the sway bar will rest lower, and I did not lower the car too much. The portion of the bar below the oil pan is not centered to the mounts on the frame so it will really go up once rotated. I spaced the mounting brackets 1 inch down as well and the bar is right on the steering rack mounts. I have stock bar so you may have to grind yours.

If you went with an LT1 mounted in the rear holes of the cradle, the racing beat sway bar will clear with no mods. Mine did anyways. i have no clue on the LS1 sorry

I was looking on Granny's website and they have a sway bar spacer block, but it is made out of aluminum. I'm not sure how much force is applied on the bolts of the sway bar mounts, but aluminum threads worry me.

I wonder how much clearance you can get lowering the swaybar. Thanks to another member here, I have a pic of what my Quikor setup looked like for my Ford conversion:

Mine? Quikor, custom made, 1 1/8." The car cornered VERY flat. The one pictured is actually a duplicate of the one I used.

You wouldn't have any part # or contact info for them, that would work perfect for are LS1 guys and it looks huge! Any other spec's on it?
