Default Bought an LS1 FD!

I have been searching for a FD for the past few weeks in the hope of picking up a running rotary car and driving it this summer, then over the fall/winter do the Hinson LS1 conversion.

I had pretty much settled on a car in Alabama....came home from work friday night and saw the post for the LS1 FD in AZ for sale. We finalized everything last night and it'll be picked up this weekend and sent to Brian Hinson's shop to be finished up.

I'm real excited about getting the car. I sold our other 2 summer cars last fall and spent the winter trying to decide exactly what to do. The LS1 FD always stuck in my mind and between that and buying/building a C5, it was hard to beat the weight advantage of the FD, not to mention rarity. I live 5 minutes from the GM Proving Grounds and everyone and their mother has a C5.

I pick it up last weekend in May and will have it at Grattan Raceway on June 5th to see how it does. Probably won't do much with it this summer except drive it. My last 2 project cars were typical, lot of work, lot of waiting and not alot of driving. I want to drive this one. Once fall comes I'll look at heads/cam, maybe a bigger motor.

After driving a rotary FD I think with the V8 its hard to beat the combination and might be one of the best conversions and best all around sports cars on the road. We'll see how it does mid-June, going upto Montreal for the F1 race and will do our first road trip.
