Default 780rwhp/850rwtq T76 GTQ turbo LS1!!!

Rob Raymer at Quarter Mile Perf recently tested his "budget" LS1 turbo'd motor. The shortblock used a stock cast crank, ARP main studs, Eagle rods, Diamond Thermal coated pistons (3.905" bore), Total Seal rings, hydraulic roller cam (wow!)! The top end uses ported LS1 heads and the new FAST 90mm intake with a stock ported TB. It uses 57lb/hr injectors and LS1 edit!!!!

It uses a factory passenger header with a fabricated crossover and log style driver side header with a new T76 GTQ turbo (rated at around 975 flywheel hp) and 3" downpipe (a little undersized).

Well with race gas and 17psi with very conservative 18* timing it laid down the 780rwhp/850rwtq thru a T56! Pretty damn amazing.

Wonder what something similar to this would do in a LS1 powered RX-7 at 2900lbs or so? Probably undriveable unless you had Mike's (MisRed) 2:59 gears out back.

Here is the article:

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153243

I'm sure Rob Raymer will race it down the strip soon. His previous 125K stock LS1 with unported heads and similar turbo setup (T76 non GTQ) went 136mph at 3800lbs!!!!! The new setup should probably go 145mph... which is good for a mid 9 second 1/4 mile if he can hook and row the 6 speed fast enuf.

Just thought some would find this interesting what a budget LS1 shortblock can do.

Bah, that's the tip of the iceberg for those motors. Someone brought out a TTc5 to the TX2K4 Poopra meet and made 1000 to the wheels at the dyno competition...

Just imagine that type of power in a FD.
I'm actually planning on doing that same setup
when my FD is done.

Then again there isn't much space.

Oh well, i'll make space
