Default road race suspension

I have always been a straight line racer and was wondering what kind of mods a person would use to beef up the RX7 for cornering. I suppose stiffer springs are an obvious upgrade, but what else would enhance cornering on these cars. Mine is a second gen if that makes a difference.
Thanks
Tom

I got my coilover kit with camber plates from K2RD.com with adjustable KYB AGX shocks and their rear toe eliminator bushings for my 2nd gen for around $1K. At the same time I added Energy Suspension poly bushings from Suspension.com for around $100.

I ordered 400lb front springs and 275 rear and they work out well. Probably wouldn't change the spring rates if I did it again.

Quickor in OR makes a 1 1/8" front sway bar that is around $200 for V8 converted 2nd gen cars.

Also more meat on the road works out nice. 235/17's all the way around fit or a 255/17 out back would help. I went the cheaper route and run '89-91 T2 rims that are 16x7 (16lbs each vs. 24lbs each for the '87-88 style). Then mounted 225/50/16's up front and 245/45/16's out back. Rear tires are a little stretched but still handle well.

Add all this and your car will eat up the corners as well. Only being able to go fast in a straight line gets old on the street after a while.

Thanks for your info. It seems like you have been able to combine straight line strength with cornering abilities. I'll have to start by upgrading my current rear as it's just the small 7" open.

I've gotten some low 1.70's on 245/50/16 Nitto DR's with this suspension so it may not be optimal for drag (sub 1.50's would be primo on slicks).... adjusting the KYB AGX's for the softest settings they have also.....

.....but with good driving technique and tire pressure in the 18-20psi range on the Nittos I can repeat it all day long and rip in the curves after resetting the shocks/struts to their normal setup..
