| Car's sitting at the exhaust shop now so I can have the pipes done tomorrow. And if there is a god I'll be able to pick up the driveshaft tomorrow. All I need to do is find the damn starter signal wire, and connect a few misc. wires and it's done. I could probable start it up right now if I could figure out where the wire was. I'm about to give up and just run a starter switch. Anyone with an FB know which wire is the starter signal from the ignition switch? Or any reason why the signal wouldn't be going through. The other question I have is my clutch is super soft. This was expected when i went with a hydro in a cable set up, but it's almost non-existant, and it's kinda slow, and it only moves the arm about 1". I'm not really convinced that it's fully releasing the clutch disk. Does anyone know how far the T5 arm needs to move? Hopefully I'll be starting the car up tomorrow and if the driveshaft comes in, i'll be up all night breaking in the motor for my autoX Saturday. yippy

I had the same problem with my 2nd gen on the signal wire. I thought I had it and then didn't.... got frustrated and now just have a nice push button starter in place of the stock lighter. Works nicely and looks totally stock there. Good luck tomorrow!

It should be a black wire with a yellow stripe. Mine was on the harness that went to the engine with the gauge senders and alternator connections. In 1981 it was a 22 pin plug. Also make sure you don't have either a neutral safety switch or a clutch switch interrupting the circuit. Dave

Damn, that's the wire I keep finding, but it gives me an 8v signal when the ignition is on, and a 12v when I hit the starter. I'm no expert, but I'm prety sure I don't want an 8v signal to my solinoid. I guess I just have some sort of problem or something. Push button it is!!! Oh yeah, and the drive shaft is finished ON TIME!! The car should be ready tonight to move, provided I can get it rolling and that everything else works. Now I just have to get off work so I have time to finishes it for the race tomorrow.

Just wondering who in the area you got to do your exhaust. A couple of years ago Glenn's muffler in Seneca shop did mine. After I got a new set of headers and had them Jet Hot coated I had Super Service in Walhalla do it. For the starter wire this is how mine is (the way the factory did it don't ask my why). In the engine compartment it is a Black with Yellow stripe, but on the ignition switch it's a Black with a Red stripe. I took out the cigarette lighter and put the push button there then spliced into the black with red, that way I can use either the key or the push button. Seem that my ignition switch is starting to go bad but just for the starter portion. That is way I have also spliced a push button into it also. There is a connector in the mess of wires on the steering column that connects the black with yellow to the black with red. Hope this helps out. http://home.ec.rr.com/monsterx7/P1010026.JPG This is how I mounted mine.
