Default Another Possible FI Option for Power Junkies

Official TPE/Kenne Bell Twin Screw Blower Thread!!! - LS1TECH

They are trying to price the complete kit for 6k. I am sure a tuner kit would be less.

I'm pretty sure this would fit under our hood if not only a small cowl would probably be needed.

If you read on they are also trying to incude a boost control function that allows the customer to ramp how much boost and when they want boost by 50rpm increments

They also went and revised the air inlet to flow about 1400 cfm compared to the stock KB inlet that flowed aroun 1000 cfm.. (this is their words) and will allow anywhere from a 75mm inlet to 115mm inlet.

I dont know, its something to think about... if anything else it should make it easier to buy a used D1sc kit for a good deal after everyone sells theirs off to buy this kit.

If something like that fit under the hood, I would be ordering it.

That would need a large cowl to fit in a FD.

I actually talked to Jeff@TPE awhile ago about this very subject. I asked him in his opinion would the KB system work in a FC with an Fbody LS1. His response is below.

1) The P/S resv get relocated to the front portion of the tensioner. So you might have to do a little tweaking to make it fit. You might already have room, but from the picture you would have a tiny bit of clearence problem. Fortunately, you can just bend the bracket.

2) The KB is set up for drive by wire. So we would have to re-route your drive cable to the passenger side. No biggie on that one.

3) You would have to find a spot for the coolant resv. But itw very small so you should easily be able to do that. If not, just make up a custom SS one.

4) Are you running an F-body LS1? From the looks of it, you are, because the alternator is nowhere in sight. If thats the case, then we will need to change the shim in the S/C dive to .088 further out (no Biggie)

5) The only obsticle I would see, is the front S/C bracket. It bolts directly to the alternator-P/S bracket on the C5. So you probably have to have a 1/2 plate aluminum cut in order to set you belt routing. Although it would be kind of a PITA, its NOTHIN a decent fabricator couldnt do.

Finally, your setup might even be better on the RX-7. Being that the TB is on the left, and the P/S resv is relocated to the right side, you could create a cold air box in the front left corner..

Can this job be done with realitive ease, and GREAT results?? Hell Yea... Theres very few KB parts you wouldnt waste either.
So it looks like it is entirely possible...if you are willing to tweak a few things and add a cowl hood

Default nice

I have a cowl hood on the way from the guys at Tech2. I have the car down right now for some adjustments, and we took the FAST manifold off cause the knock sensor craped out. If I get the hood while the FAST is off, I will be sure to messure how much space there between the the hood and the block. Actually, what would be the best part to take messurements (sp?) at? If you guys have ideas, let me know ASAP. Do a search on my posts, aparts from foolish ones, I have asked about fitting a KB under our hoods. I am serious about this

Better put a 9" out back while you're at it.

I love screwchargers, but man are they hard on parts.

Yup, I've been thinking on what supporting mods would be required too. Anyway, as always, it is a good option to have around, no?
