In my case, it was money. I started out with what "I thought" was well enough to complete the build. Planned an LT1 2004R, had the trans, tried to buy an LT1 on ebay and almost got ripped of by some scammer. That sucked big time! Then I found an LS1/4L60E. Little more money then I planned on spending for Motor and trans( like $2500 more!) but in the end it was well worth it! That part though was what really set my timeline WAY behind! Another year and a half later I managed to raise the $$$ to finish it up. 2.5 years total and so far I got 3800 miles of pure enjoyment! Now I'm lookin for more HP lol. A big part of my $$$$ shortages came from not having this site for info though. I didn't find it til I'd spent a ton on wasted efforts to make things work. Then I found this site and well? Now I'm done! For now HEHE!

My biggest delays have been having to wait for parts. First, it took a while to get the basic stuff like the subframe. Then I started putting thing together and decided I should install a new clutch and flywheel, which took about two weeks to get. I installed them and my clutch slave while I was bleeding it on the bench and then it took a week to get that. Then it really comes down to simply having (and/or taking) the time to actually work on stuff and then the backlash you get from friends/family when you're spending all this time out in the garage. The most time-consuming part for me, though, is reading through the forum and googling around to figure out how things go together and figuring out what I need to order. For every hour I've spent in the garage, I've probably spent 5-10 on the computer doing research.

My first big killer was that I ordered a subfram from Granny's. It took forever and he never even finished it! It put such a negative vibe on my project and at that time there were no other vendors doing anything for the fd. After chugging along, I finally fabbed the rest of it myself and am now on a roll. Hoping to have maiden voyage by EOY. Woot!
