Default considering buying a '98 LS1/T56

I'm getting way to excited about my next V8 RX7. I ended up giving up on rebuilding that T56 and sold it for $525... just too much tedious work with too little time. But I did just found what might be considered a deal on a LS1/T56 full pullout combo for $2750. The catches are that it's a '98 and it has about 120k miles on it. But I am thinking this might not be too bad considering was planning on building up whatever motor I was going to buy. I would replace the oil pump, rod bolts, timing chain, cam, lifters, heads, rockers, intake, heads, intake... pretty much everything. I know that '98 motors are pretty unfavorable due to the valve covers, PCM and some other sensor (?) issues. What other sorts of problems to high mileage LS1's run into? The pullout will be going into an FD, and i really want everything to be done right on this car... this time around. let me know if you think i will be regretting this decision. and let me know my monday :stick: .

Buy a cheap 6.0 and some L92 heads.

i would go w/ a 6.0. it might be a pain to track down all the misc, but that 4" bore will be nice so u can use the L92/L67. really wish i would have went this route.

i just don't know. to be completely honest, i know this may sound stupid, but i think that a 500 hp LS2/L92 FD would be a little bit too much power for me . i think i'd be completely satisfied with 400 hp from an LS1 H/C. any more opinions on that '98 LS1?

i bought a 98 LS1/T56. i ended up tearing it down and jus doing a budget rebuild. kept pistons, rods, and crank. upgraded the bearings, piston rings, rod bolts, cam, oil pump, etc.

it sounds like a good price. would u purchase this in person or over the internet? mine came out of a running wreck, but ended up having pretty worn bearings (76k mi) looked like it had some oil starvation. use the money u save in purchase price for a jus-in-case rebuild. change the oil pump and rod bolts no matter wut.
