Default Rx-8

I saw a whole truckload of RX-8 heading South on I-95 today.

I guess it won't be too long before those are on the back of another truck... a flatbed tow truck.

If they weren't so ugly I'd convert one of those.

I was driving next to a yellow one this weekend. From the front I might get used to but from the side they just don't look nearly as sleek as the 3rd gens. The lines are just to abrupt and exagerated, for me. Course I'm an old fart and may just not get it.
From what I have read on the RX8 forum and the RX7 forum their performance leaves a lot to be desired also, even from an NA standpoint.

Basically I think the horsepower is a lie. It makes no where near 250hp. If it did it's be faster than the e36 M3 which has similar claimed horsepower but is much faster.

My guess is it makes around 200 even with the torque characteristics similar to a 125cc moto-x bike. That is the only useable torque is in the last 20% of the rev range. The rest is useless.

Yeah I'm old
Here is a dyno sheet thread off the RX8 forum.

http://rx8forum.com/showthread.php?t...highlight=dyno

Sexy, huh, it does have a back seat!
I guess like anything else, after a few drinks it would start lookin pretty good, around closing time, especially if it kept me from having to walk.

What a little piece of shit. 178hp and 123lb/ft Just as I suspected!

I am certain there are minivans with better dyno charts than that.

I got banned from the RX-8 forum within about 20 minutes.

I think that is a new record.

Hey.... Look. It puts out 250 HP. It's a rotary with no Turbo. That's the most horsepower out of a stock NA rotary, ever. Atleast try to give it a little respect? Imagine one WITH a turbo!

I still have a rotary in my s5 TII. When it blows, It's gonna get a V-8.

I just like being able to tell people that I can pick up my engine, long block, and move it by myself, with my own hands.
