| I've commented about the popularity of these swaps in my area before. Now it's becoming an epedemic. Prior to my swap, there was one FB cruising around with a 350 in it. It's in the next town over from mine. Now that mine is complete, there are two guys in the process of building widebody 302 FB's. One is a guy that used to race with us who distoryed his CRX and is currently restorying the body on his FB. The second is a guy who just purchased an FB with an ITA kit and SSR 15" rims. The bastard only paid $1000 for it. Figures. He's currently doing the 302 swap and was introduced to me by my very devout rotary friend Johnathan. John spent the whole first day around my car saying things like "It's really cool, but I could never do it." and stiff like that. He seemed torn between liking the swap and thinging it was cool, to disliking the concept of pulling out the rotory motor. I guess it would be like someone knocking down the Statue of Liberty to put up something else you liked and thought was cool. One one hand, it's cool and new, but on the other hand, you would think it was a shame to have distroyed the Statue of Liberty.... or something. Anyway, he's been asking me all these questions and it turns out he's already bought a 302 and tranny, and is looking for a second FB to swap it out of. I guess he's getting the best of both worlds by keeping his GSL-SE and building a V8 RX-7. That brings the total to 2 running V8s, and 3 being built. Not only that, but 2 other guys liked mine so much they're considering doing similar swaps. I'm thinking about starting up a V8 RX-7 club around here if we get any more cars running.

| All my friends who own Acuras and Hondas etc... all think I'm crazy but they can't wait until I'm done. The RX7 guys at cruise night all think I'm crazy and can't wait until I choke and die. The only other V8 RX7 in town (a white 327 FC) has the balls to put all the ricers to shame including the few guys who have 240SXs and the one Honda S2000 in town! He hangs out with the musclecar crowd where most of them won't run with him either but he is accepted without prejudice. Of course, those guys are mostly middle aged as compared to the ricer crowd who are ALL teenagers and college students. Not saying that all young people are punk ricers, just that all the ricers here are young punks! It has to be the cars or something. In the musclecar camp there are plenty of teenagers who wrench on cars as a father/son hobby or that saved up cash to buy their own cars and they are nothing like the ricers. Having a father figure beside you in this hobby is probably the difference. Maybe in the future, todays ricers will calm down and be a role model for their kids souping up 4 banger compacts! Who knows. Toughguy |

| I thought I was the only person doing this sort of thing when I started. I got informed when I started getting on the internet and looking for people doing the same thing. After I started paying attention to the sites I realized that there were many people doing the same thing. Another example is the awareness I have about hail damage and warnings I never had before. The reason is because I got some serious damage in the spring, and I pay real close attention to it now. i suppose the exposure from the RX7 forum and all of the bickering doesnt hurt either. |

| Toughguy: At the cruise night tonight here in the Sault a guy told me there's a mechanic at Extreme Motors in the Valley at Sudbury with a 327 in a FC. Apparently working on it,engine in but far from complete. Might be worth you checking it out if you weren,t already aware of this. I never heard of the Valley but don't know Sudbury well. STU
