| Because I wasnt listening to his bullshit! Back to the 20 somethings for him to be Godhttp://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=1987480#post1987480 Go to the $1500 challenge in the lounge and see his pompous ass in action. Page 7 and 8. Maybe he had a mental breakdown or something, or possibly has been dreaming for years. |

| It's obvious you don't work in corporate America. So clearly you don't understand how all of this works. You're no doubt involved in one of those jobs where you are actually counted on to do work and complete stuff on a regular basis? And <gasp> work? Well here is how it works in white collar corporate America. Particularly in those jobs related to and revolving around technology. It's more important to be able to talk about doing stuff using flowery prose than to actually perform work and complete projects. Because of course it's a whole lot easier to talk about doing stuff than it is to actually do stuff. Doing stuff takes drive, skill, talent, and the wherewithall to follow though. And doing stuff... well that is a whole lot like actual work. Ick! Here is a little example from my own workplace. We have a guy here that reads books and articles non-stop. He is a great talker bordering on bullshit artist suprime. Everyone in my group is paid to write software. Yet our local bullshit artist in the last two years hasn't written a single line of code. Not one! What this guys does is comes into meetings talks a lot of high tech BS spouts about his latest research coup and rattles off the latest techniques in design and writing of software that he has read about in a book or online. But yet... he hasn't actually done anything... except talk... a lot... The fact is when it comes right down to it he is a complete fraud... His skills are only within the realm of talking about doing stuff... Well that and starting projects... He is really good at doing the first 15% of everything... can't finish anything because he doesn't have the drive or talent. Oh yeah... he likes to throw his checkbook around a lot too... when in reality his personal balance sheet is six figures in the red zone... Does this remind you of anyone? |
| |||
| I was also wondering where he went. When that post about..... "what should I do with my project" was started, many stepped in with advice.......some beat him up a little bit, about finishing it etc. Others hammered on him about trying to reinvent the wheel. When the truth about finishing tasks started to surface, he vanished. No longer being held in the highest regard, is damaging for some.

I think it was you, ID, that said so many have done so much more with so much less, or something like that. What is sad is that so many look upon folks like this as some sort God or know-it-all when indeed they should be looking to those that have "been there, and done that and have a car that runs to prove it".

| I bet you one dollar that the six cars that Ed (Vert) completed in aggregate cost less than the one car that Jim hasent completed. I'm pretty impressed when a guy with no experience and a couple of thousand bucks makes one of these things work in his car-port. Less impressed when someone spends $60-70k hiring a gaggle of hotrod builders and spends years making nothing but a hole in his bank account. Jim, if you are reading, put down the checkbook, go out the garage and work. Take the energy that you dedicate to research and posting on the internet to finishing your project. Start with a written project plan with dated milestones... Pick a reasonable end date and don't let it slip for anything. Ride your vendors if they don't perform get rid of them. You'll be happier in the end and you won't look silly for talking 3 years of smack on the message boards. Quote:

| I really dont think that he could handle ever actually completing the car. I believe the end result would never be up to his standards, even though he probably has very little skills. I actually used to think he knew what the Fu@# was up, but I finally realized that he is very good at on thing, computer skills. I believe with his typing skills (mine suck) that he will make somebody a nice secretary someday, but in the meantime it is back to putting my car together and re tuning with the smaller pulley to put an end to this once and forever. |

| In Washington State I see alot of Microsoft guys who have made so much money so fast that they have not acquired the common sense to know how to use it. It's not just lacking the skills to work on the car, its the lack of direction while the car is in progress. Some larger shops just love this type of customer because they can charge for the parts going on and charge again for the parts oming back off. They don't care if the car ever gets finished, just as long as some fool keeps paying the bills. And as far as that engine goes, I would have pulled the plug after the first dyno pull. 600+ hp is a bit ridiculous as far as I'm concerned. I can't believe a chevrolet motor could cost 35k to build. It kind of looks like that shop saw him coming. Or else a team of lawyers built his engine. One thing that I was truly interested in was the ford rear installation. I would have liked to see how well it worked. It was the only good idea of the whole project, over done of course, but a good idea. Dave |

| Yea but it has Kryptonite and titanium polymers in it. Not to mention that it has better parts than anybody else has,or could possibly dream up. It is just so darned technologically advanced that nobody will ever figure it out. I bet he may be able to fly to the moon with it. Oops,I forgot, it's not done yet. |

| There is some weird twisted thinking in the tech world that the most complicated hardest to execute solution is actually better than the simple straightforward solution that actually works. The nerdworld is rife with this thinking. This car is a physical example of the same thought processes. To some degree it's the same way of thinking that brought us the overly complicated and never quite right 13B-REW... Quote:
