Hey guys. new to the forum and been dreaming of doin a v8 Rx7 for a while now, was thinkin v8 fiero now thinkin v8 rx7, I like the second gen's because of the body kits available but worried about weigh gain vs. a 1st gen, anyone know of a good looking body kit for a 1st gen? or know any good deals on blown 1st/2'd gen Rx7's?

I think either is a great choice.. I'm personally building a 1st gen, but the 2nd gen is a little more 'modern' really. you get better steering, better suspension and brake options, better wheel options (unless you are corrupting a gsl-se 1st gen). 1st gen conversion might be cheaper if you don't have a car yet, the styling is more sleeper like imho. not many ppl expect something looking like a 1st gen rx7 to have any power. dale

IMO: FB advantages: cheaper, lighter, easier to swap a 302 in, 84-85 has a cooler interior (timeless, unlike the 80's FC interior), strong solid axle rear for drag racing disadvantages: smallish brakes, stupid wheel fitment (though I love my Panasports!), sloppy steering gearbox, newest one is still almost 20 years old FC advantages: superior handling and brakes (5 lug), much better aftermarket support, more room for wheels/tires, some models are barely 10 years old and can be in nice condition still disadvantages: heavier, more expensive, more expensive to swap, more electronics to sort through, more gimmicky, not so much "classic" like the fb, more of a modern ricer in most people's minds... Overall, I think the FB better fits my idea of a true sports car - simple, light, and RWD. The FC is more sophisticated, and can probably be made into a nicer "daily driver" or road racing car. For my budget (CHEAP) and goals (mostly drag racing), the FB was a perfect match. Oh, and getting one for free didn't hurt, of course! I would still like to buy an FC for a daily, but it won't be for awhile - and it probably won't be a boinger, either.
