Default Blowoff Valves are Gay

So I'm cruising home last night and a 2nd gen Turbo II with a shitload of pillar gauges and shit pulls up next to me and starts revving. First off let me just say how F'n pathetic and weak the rotary sounds next to a healthy v-8. I don't know how anyone could love that sound. It sounds like Bronx Puerto Rican woman getting her toenails pulled out. Secondly let me post for the record my total and complete hatred of loud blowoff valves. Loud blowoff valves are one step down the "I'm queer" ladder from those stupid wings on Civics. It makes your car sound like it has SBD farts. So weak.

It makes me so happy to have defiled one of the rice king cars with a pushrod v-8. Oh THE HORROR. What other car has a totally anal retentive owner demographic that would be offended by the installation of a pushrod v-8? Or did we hit the money shot with the rotards? Ohhh.... I know the air-cooled Porsche guys... yeah...

You always have something good to say. May I also say I agree with you whole heartedly. I dont like rotaries, rotards, blow-off valves or queers!!!:assmoon:

Don't be so quick to knock BOV's....... what if it's a healthy V8 pushing those turbos..... even a quiet BOV will sound loud with a V8 behind it.....

Default IT'S TRUE!!!!

I think imports have no class. They all sound like a bunch of bees and cry babies. What's with the tea kettle effect? Although some are definately respectable, but they have to be higher priced cars like supras and rx-7s, done nicely of course. I couldn't imagine pushing a honda or a cavalier with a super big wing or the transformer kits. I guess it's all preference. I think these people lack taste. One more thing. Euro lights, yuck!

I just don't understand why people buy low end cars and build on them? What's wrong with buying a nice car like an FD or a 944 turbo? Power, Beauty, and Grace. Again, I guess it's only for people with good taste.

I don't care if you 1700ci WWII Merlin under your hood. I just HATE the pfffffftttt sound of blowoffs. Route that shit back into the intake so no one can hear it.

I have missed views on rotory engines. In stock form they don't offer much, but a fully ported race rotory can make a lot of power. Not bad for a 1.3L engine. They will sound like a pack of sreaming cats, but they can turn nice numbers at the track. The good think about the V8 conversion is that it will still idle and make a lot of power. I have done both setups and the piston engine gives a better overall feel.

it's not uncommon to still be able to hear it even once it's routed back into the intake....

I am partial to the sound of blowoff valves, i mean they are certianly no substitute for the rumble of a full exhaust v8, but i used to love switching through gears in the old talon, grrrrRRRRRR PSSSSHHHHT, ggggrrrrRRR ahh takes me back. And yes it is often quite audible when routed back into the intake, as mine was.

While I hope the HKS BOV (routed back into the intake) isn't too loud on the turbo 240sx project I'm building for my girlfriend, I really won't care if someone else thinks it is. It's there for a purpose - to save the 60 dollar junkyard T3 from exploding and sending shrapnel through the motor!

Yes, some ricers go way too far with their BOV's. But on occasion, you should keep it to yourself that the PSHHHH sound annoys you - I have quite a few friends that will back up the sound with 700-900++ hp of 3 liters + boost....
