Default New Build - STARTING!!!

Ok fellas...after me browsing around the forums and finally blowing my rotary, its time to start the build.

Phase I

Grannys Kit Ordered (Deluxe Kit for LS1)
Motor and Tranny off a 2002 Firehawk Purchased (T56 tranny) 44k on motor
Old motor and tranny is off the car - just left Power Steering Stuff and ABS

As soon as the parts arrive to the shop, the install begins.

Anything I should install before dropping in the motor? Im assuming with low miles, everything should be fine. I was debating doing a regular maintenance for my own reasons...change belts, fluids, possibly new clutch (while its out)?

Ill post pics of how this thing is starting off...

yeah do it all while you have it out.now would be a good time to replace some of those old suspension bushings and boots and make sure everything is nice and tight. what kind of a rx-7 are you working with?

You serious...damn it, I want to leave it stock so I can get BAR'd.

Here are the things I am doing while its in the shop.

- New Clutch and Flywheel (Brand?...any suggestions. Daily driveable clutch)
- Pro 5.0 Short Shift w/ 6" Stick from WS6 Project
- Regular Maintenance (fluids, etc)
- SLP 160 Thermostat

As far as suspension...all my bushings were changed to Prothane about 6 months ago and the car is pretty much a solid road racing machine prior to this.

Its a 1990 S5 Turbo II. Pics before the motor blew...

Link doesn't work. No access authorized.

Starting with an 02 motor puts you in better shape than many. Just start taking a systems approach (fuel, cooling, clutch, driveline, etc) and you'll be fine.

I hope I made the right decisions on these things just bought...

- Pro 5.0 Shifter with WS6 Project 6" Stick
- Taurus Radiator Fan
- Spec Stage 3+ Clutch
- SLP 18lb Flywheel
- SLP 160 Thermostat
- MSD 8.5mm Wires and NGK TR-55 Plugs
- Wait 4 Me Performance for PCM Reprogramming

I debated between a Textralia and Spec for a LONG TIME!!! Decided on the Spec/SLP combo partially because I got it slightly cheaper and partially because I wanted a Full Face Clutch. Im still debating it even though everything above has been purchased already, but hey...Im sure Ill be happy. Ive read and seen over and over how great Textralia is...but still, I went the Spec route. Again, I know Ill hear about it from people who own either or. Oh well...like I said...I hope I made the right decisions.

No pics of the build as of yet, but Ill get some up as soon as I get all the parts in. I think Im sticking with this setup until I get BAR'd here in CA.

Anything else I should add to the list while I can...remember, I need to stay smog legal.

- Water Pump?
- Oil Pump?
- New belts and regular maint for sure is in the list for sure
