Default So I got the most Heinous ticket ever today...

For 5 over.

DEAD SERIOUS. Best part? I was on the deferral for an actual ticket (13) over so now I get to repay that ticket and pay this bullshit ticket. Everywhere I've ever gone, I've always heard 5 over is always safe. And even my cop friends that I know go by the motto "9 you're fine, 10 you're mine".

Sssssssssshould I go to court or should I try to defer this one, too? Haha.

Go to court anyway... worst thing that can happen is they reduce the fine you were going to pay anyway.

Also, on a side note, all my tickets have been for < 10mph so I feel your pain.

I go around everywhere at 15mph over. Always doing 80 in a 65 so does everyone else around here.

Never get any trouble from the cops

Drew, it has been my experience that in the state of Indiana, you can have more then 1 infraction deferral as long as they are not in the same jurisdiction or issued from the same courthouse. The infraction deferral is simply a way to get more money from you, but it keeps the point off of your license and your insurance is none the wiser. You should always go to court and try to make a deal with the Prosecutor. I know that the deferral is not on your MVR report and the different courts do not have a way to track and compare their use. Good Luck and FTP!

Well the worst thing that can happen is you waste your entire day waiting in line and then dealing with all of the court bullshit, and then still have to pay your ticket. Best case is your waste your entire day waiting in line and then dealing with all of the court bullshit, and then they "award" you by giving you nothing and letting you not pay the ticket that they just decided you were innocent of in the first place I think they should at least have to pay you the amount on the ticket, so they think twice about writing you bullshit tickets and wasting everyones time.

I feel your pain man, those tickets hurt, if anyone wants to start a revolution, I'm game.

May be it was the car you were driving? Maybe on another day you drove by him with flat footed and for what ever reason he couldn't catch you. He might have had it in for ya.

Drew, DONT GO TO COURT!!!!

Trial by written declaration. I hope your state allows it. I'll help you write it if you want.

I did some quick research:
Quote:
4) Indiana
In Indiana, in order to bypass a court appearance you must opt for a “Trial by Affidavit.” Contact the court for the rules and regulations involved.

Dave, thanks for the heads up. I know someone who knows someone so I'll ask him and figure it out for sure. It's just if I'm wrong and they find out....I'm guilty of perjury.

Justin, It most likely is...I've seen a statie around the backroads a few times in my various cars (beater and this one at least) Probably was him.

Stevie, way ahead of you baby. I already dug up your old post (I remember) and read about the trial by affidavit.

The funny thing is, he was a really nice guy and seemed to be sympathetic with me but he thought my car was really faster than it was, I guess. I saw him, passed him, I didn't see him hit brakes or anything. Went over a railroad track, put it in second gave it some gas, shift to 3rd accelerate normally, and cruise. He says he came over the tracks and I was hauling ass down the road. I don't know. I didn't think I was going that fast. Oh well. Live and learn. Oh, and this ticket will be framed too.

So he was going in the opposite direction (couldn't pace you) and didn't get you on radar or laser. He doesn't know your speed (but heard you step on it) so he writes you up for 5 over figuring that if you're feeling guilty you'll quietly pay the ticket and if not then you'll fight to get it thrown out
