n00bs making new threads

i like all the newbies intro and all, but can we limit them not being able to make a thread anywhere until they have like 5 post ?
5 post is not a high limit but that might get them use the search function before something like this happens

I know what you mean b005td, it seems like every time I look in the lounge theres a new intro thread. How about a separate introductions section just to weed out the "Hi guys, I'm new" threads out of the lounge.

I think an intro sub-forum would be a good thing, but only because it could reduce the noise in the other sections.

i think we have too many n00bs making "can i put a LS1 into a rx7" / "how much will my swap cost"

i say they at least need 20 post, may be even 50 post to start making new threads just to show they at least attempt to search.

coming from a noob, the idea is not a good one. unless you want people bumping old ass threads.
everytime i search for something i end up getting some info, but not everything i need. and i don't only search this forum, i search every where.
granted the threads i would be posting are not the same as the ones in your example.
new threads like that are a problem on every forum not just this one. maybe you should just ignore the threads instead of posting in them.

You dont have to post in threads to look at the information in it. I guarantee you could build a Swapped v8 rx7 from this site using its information and never make one post.

I think I made a couple noob threads asking stupid questions when I first joined but compared to most forums.. this place is actually pretty devoid of newbie crap. It also may be because I dont spend much, if any, time in the lounge but the rest of the board is really pretty much packed with relevent info.

if you need a certain post count to post a thread then you will get either a bunch of random crap posts in off topic or people bumping old ass threads.

i am in the process of putting a sbc in my fc, almost all the threads with info on this swap are a few years old. everyone is going ls1 nowadays. if i have a question that is not covered in a thread then i have to post a new thread. or if i find the info, but don't understand it i can bump a thread from 2005 and hear the angry people on this site complain about bumping an old thread.
oh and the angry people know who they are.
